Fruitless Debates
One of the biggest problems that plagues rational beings is discussed on two levels. The use of emotionally charged words, retrieves irrelevant images that the decision is usually dark and make every attempt to understand our cloud.
A blogger known as Atlastorm wrote a provocative post in which he asserts that rape is part of the natural order of things. [The blog is no longer available.]
On one level, he is absolutely right. The level at which men exist side by side witheverything else in the universe – neither greater than animals nor less than a supernova – is where rational thought not only fails, but is irrelevant. For, if we exist solely to march through time until our parts are recycled, what possible difference does any of it make? We are born, we breathe, eat, eliminate, procreate and expire. If that journey is interrupted by cataclysmic events, so what? We are as powerless in such a case as a beetle beneath our heel.
On the other hand …
There is a level where philosophers live close together with pragmatists, idealists, fatalist and the occasional apathetic slacker. Each of these thinkers had their own ideas about the meaning of words, the relevance of justice and the price of power. They are impressed with just three of thousands of patterns of thought on the minds of thinkers, and often in the heat of debate, no longer take these ideas as they are to be expected.
So, if the philosopher is thinkingthe nature of rape or, for that matter, a different reality, the need for context forces the discussion into a public forum. After all, who, when it was enough to ponder only philosophers would never say anything!
Once a discussion has enough thinker, chaos inevitably, be achieved. In its simplest form, the chaos appears, screaming like two people about the gap between the two levels.
It is tempting to prove this point by the removal of parts of the debateFramework, but it would hardly do justice to the high level of thinking that are already in the blog's Atlastorm applied.
Suffice it to say that was the terminology tossed around with little consensus on meaning. This is a vicious circle of circular reasoning, in which rape is defined in terms of their necessity caused! This is clearly an inadvertent error, but it is not harder than the repeated passing of the assumption that sexual gratification is inherent in the act.
Transferthe heavy guns of sociology, is to combat the weapons of science and philosophy as you would a mirror before Socrates and asked that he argued with himself. A real band discourse has all gone, but what the nature of the subject. The key concepts must be defined and their use by all participants. Ad hominem attacks should be avoided because they only serve to obscure the real problem.
It may be helpful to understand each participant in the world view and the possibilities thatPerspective might impact on the progress of the debate.
At the end of the whole, we can say that we have achieved nothing.
